FAQS

Do I need an International License?

Like all countries around the world, a valid road licence is required. We accept a current and valid driver’s license from your home country with the proper class or endorsement permitting you to ride the motorcycle, or equivalent of the motorcycle, you are renting.

In Bali (Indonesia) all foreigners/tourists are required to have an international license on them while driving or riding any type of motorised vehicle at all times. This may be obtained at your original country of residence, you may also get an issued licence from the Police here in Bali.

Do you deliver at the airport?

No, due to so many flights and the constant delays at the airport, we do not offer this service at this time.

Can customers drop off their bikes after hours?

NO, we encourage our customers to return their rental bikes during business hours (within the time frame that was originally agreed) so we can close out your reservation and avoid any additional charges that may occur if your motorcycle returned after the agreed drop-off time. We provide a 1.5 hour grace period without prior notice of your return.

Can I add additional riders to my rental?

One additional rider is permitted at no additional cost. In your agreement you will have to nominate the primary and secondary riders if required. The minimum age for an additional driver is 18 and a valid motorcycle license is required. Keep in mind that if an incident occurs and any of the riders are not legally valid then your insurance cover may become null and void.

Is there insurance on the bike?

If you would like insurance when you ride a MUTE, please speak to one of our team and they will explain how insurance coverage works. You can find details in our T&C’s, but please discuss to make sure you understand what is covered, what is not, and what sort of license is needed to get insurance.

How do you charge an electric bike?

You simply take the bike battery from under the seat and plug it in to any electrical outlet. If you have an outlet in your garage, you can charge using the cord directly from the bike.  Just like a mobile phone!

How long des it take to fully charge an electric bike battery?

It is best to charge the battery to full, and to do a full charge takes 4-5 hours, so overnight charging is ideal. You can also charge for 30 minutes or more if you are out and about.

How far can I ride on one charge on an electric bike?

It depends on how fast you go and the terrain you ride, but you can ride to Ubud from Seminyak and back on one full charge, you can get around your local area for a few days on one charge, and generally aim to charge the battery every 2nd or 3rd day.  If you are planning a big adventure down to the Bukit, or a few days in Ubud, then definitely take the charger with you so you can charge up when needed.

Is the electric bike battery waterproof?

No. But the exterior is water resistant to a certain degree. Keep it dry. Keep your seat firmly closed when the bike is in the rain. Think of it as a mobile phone – you can get a few sprinkles as you take it inside to charge, but you don’t want it WET!

How fast can the electric bike go?

Depending on the model, you can get up to 40, 50, 60 km/hour.  Usually in Bali, the top speed when riding around town is 30 km/hour. Out on Sunset Road, getting up to 40/45km/hour is comfortable.

Do I have to lock an electric bike?

YES. The battery itself is fairly expensive, so you want to make sure you seat is closed tight and the steering locked. Keep that electric baby safe!
